Redesigned Search Launched
A new–look SEARCH – A Church of Ireland Journal, which is edited by Canon Ginnie Kennerley, will be launched at a reception in the Gallery Chapel in Trinity College Dublin next Thursday evening. A new cover design, interior lay–out style and interactive web–site aim to attract new readers and please current subscribers alike. The speaker at the reception will be the Chief Officer of the Representative Church Body, Mr Adrian Clements. A second launch reception will be hosted by the QUB chaplaincy at 22 Elmwood Avenue, Belfast, at 4pm on Monday 27 October, at which the Bishop of Down & Dromore will be the speaker. There will also be SEARCH receptions after the main Sunday morning services in Christ Church cathedral, Dublin, on 19 October and in St Fin Barre’s cathedral, Cork, on 16 November.

The re–designed paper edition will feature its usual mix of church and faith–related articles, aiming to stimulate discussion and fresh thinking in the Church of Ireland and beyond. But the articles will on the whole be shorter, more varied, and easier on the eye. Contributors will range from key figures in church life at home and abroad to recent graduates taking their first steps into print.

Among the contributions to the new issue will be anniversary pieces on World War I by John Cooney, CMS Ireland by Roger Cooke and USPG, now rebranded as Us, by Linda Chambers. Dr Katie Heffelfinger, from the Church of Ireland Theological Institute, writes on preaching from Isaiah for Advent, while two aspects of ministry are also discussed – Terry Lilburn on NSMs and Frank Dobbs on Lay Readers.
