Tuam, Killala & Achonry Diocesan Quiet Day

Dean Alistair Grimason, Dr Iva Beranek, Bishop Patrick Rooke
The Diocesan Quiet Day was held in Saint Mary’s Catheral on 8 November. The theme of the day was ‘Compassion: Seeing with the Heart’. Reflections were led by Dr. Iva Beranek of the Church’s Ministry of Healing.
Iva broke the day into four main sessions; three in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning sessions were interspersed with short periods of silence for contemplation while the afternoon included a longer time of quietness. Silence is not always an easy thing for folk to sit with, especially in the hurly–burly of our world which is filled with sound and noise. Yet coming apart, even for just a short time, can be a real boon in helping us to refocus on our calling and on ourselves.
The day concluded with Holy Communion and the Ministry of Laying on of Hands for Healing and Wholeness. The Dean, the Very Revd Alistair Grimason, presided at the Eucharist and shared the ministry of Laying on of Hands with Iva.
