St Michael’s Church in Ballina was the venue for the Institution of the Revd Stephen McWhirter for the Incumbency of Kilmoremoy Union of Parishes and the Licencing of Revd Jennifer McWhirter for the Diocese of Tuam, Killala and Achonry on Friday 27 March 2015.

Revd Stephen was presented to Bishop Patrick Rooke for institution by the Archdeacon of Killala and Achonry, the Venerable Alan Synnott.

The preacher at the service was Revd Stephen’s former rector, Revd Canon Jim Carson, Incumbent of St. Paul’s Parish, Lisburn.

Also present, representing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killala, was Bishop John Flemming and representing the Presbyterian Community in Ballina Revd Molly Detherage.

A large contingent of clergy and friends both from TKA, the local church community and from Stephen and Jennifer’s former parish of St Paul’s were present to wish them both well in this new chapter of ministry.
