Connor clergy 'Surf Direct'
CONNOR CLERGY ?SURF DIRECT?

Ufi/learndirect, in partnership with the Church of Ireland, have joined forces to offer clergy members the opportunity to get online. For the first time, each member of the clergy in the Diocese of Connor will receive a free copy of ?Surf Direct?, a six hour course introducing the Internet and e-mail.
Connor Diocese is one of the largest Dioceses of the Church of Ireland with over 100 clergy serving in Belfast, Lisburn, and Coleraine and throughout County Antrim.
Mr Peter Hamill, the Diocesan Training Co-ordinator, says: ?This is a great opportunity for the Church of Ireland to link up with learndirect. The use of computers and the Internet is becoming increasingly important in the work of the clergy and it is great to obtain support from learndirect in this project.
?This is the start of a series of IT training opportunities for clergy in Connor Diocese and we are delighted that learndirect is able to provide us with flexible, online training that suits the busy lives of rectors and curates.?
The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Revd Alan Harper, says: ?It is important for the Church, as for any other part of society to keep abreast of the technological advances of the 21st century. Learndirect has given to those of us who, perhaps feel intimidated or left behind by the e-revolution the opportunity to access the huge resources available through the Internet and also to take advantage of the lightning fast means of communication provided by e-technology.?
Sean Mahon of Ufi/learndirect says: ?We are delighted to sponsor the Connor Diocese in this project.
