Statement from Harold Miller, Bishop of Down & Dromore, on the death of David Ervine.
?I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of David Ervine and extend my deepest sympathy to those nearest and dearest to him.
David was, in my experience, a politician of independent thought and courage. He was very much a product of Protestant Ulster, but was prepared to speak out on behalf of the Protestant community as it moved forwards into a new future.
He will be greatly missed, not only in East Belfast, but throughout this country by people of all political and religious persuasions.?
