There was double cause for joy in St Mura’s Church in Fahan, on Sunday evening, as the community launched a year of celebrations marking 200 years of worship in the present building and also a new history of the Parish of Fahan Upper.
The Co–Chairs of the Irish Inter–Church Meeting have released the following statement to congratulate Bishop John McDowell on his election as Archbishop of Armagh.
The Rt Revd John McDowell, Bishop of Clogher, has been elected by the House of Bishops as the new Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland. He succeeds Archbishop Richard Clarke who retired on 2nd February this year.
The House of Bishops, at its meeting today, confirmed the election of the Ven George Davison, Archdeacon of Belfast, as Bishop–designate of the Diocese of Connor.
As worship gatherings are still taking place around the country we are planning to go ahead with our St Patrick’s Day services at Saul Church and Down Cathedral.
‘Church of Ireland: Disestablishment and Beyond’ was the subject of a conference organised by the Royal Irish Academy to mark the 150th anniversary of the Disestablishment.
Due to health concerns, members of Standing Committee and the RB are advised that the 10th March meetings will take place in Holy Trinity Church, Rathmines.
